8:14 pm - purple koolaid is so damn good
well here i am again. back in jakarta. yuck. only a few short weeks until my triumphant return to the lands of sanity. believe me, i can hardly contain myself. singapore was so awesome. a break i probably needed, although when i think of how much work i missed i can only shudder. i lost out on like 1200 bones. oh well, life, it goes on. what makes sinapore so great? well, for one it aint jakarta. so clean. but anal too. i want everyone to know i chewed gum on the street during the day! yeah, maybe it was by mistake and only like one chew b4 i swalled but im still a rebel right? i rode the subway all over and walked until my legs fell off. i went the asian civilizations museam and modern art museum which was cool. but i was such a stinky bum. i only packed my backpack with a pair of jeans and two tshirts. so there i was stayin in this 5 star hotel business men all about (there was a lamborguini! out front) in my faded red secme shirt that i cut the sleeves off of. damn i was out of place. i bought a new cd player for damn cheap and some cds ive been meaning to buy.

review
-------

Dave Mathews - Some Devil : For his first solo album he sure did employ alot of musicians. of course tim reynolds was there, but so was 45+ other assorted musicians. frankly, im surprised he hasnt run out of music yet. no, im sure hell keep going until im in my fifties. the difference in this newest album is the subject matter. it is sarcastic and dark in places, but still clever and deep like the bands efforts. 11.3 of 14

Deftones - (self titled) : very awesome! ever since hearing minerva on the radio back in the states i have wanted to hear this album. it kicks ass but could you expect any less of chino, stephan, abe, chi and frank? 'needles and pins' (track 2) reminds me too much of their classic 'passenger' and is the only weak-point of the album. if you want heavy, here it is. 10 of 14

A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step : Album of the year! i heard mixed reviews from friends, but this album is awesome. It opens with 'the package' and a hypnotic bass riff complemented by keenans melodic crooning pulls you in from the start. the slammin guitars wake you from the reverie about halfway through the song and make you want to start breaking things. but dont get me wrong. this is a caccooning album. i cant wait to see where the musical transformation of keenan ends up. it is dedicated to (i assume) several deceased family members of the band and hold to the mourning theme throughout. my favorite song (currently) on the album is 'pet.' from this songs contrasting heavy guitars and comforting lyrics to the drug influenced 'the nurse who loved me' this album wins all across to the board. i could see myself grooving to thirteenth step in the car of relaxing to it as i get ready for bed. 14 of 14

in a semi-related note i have looked further into final fantasy xi. i have decided now that, unlike b4, it might have some redeeming values. i have it currently ranked at 70% waste of my god-damned time. which means ill buy it and play it... and probably hate it too. but if for nothing else it will occupy me for the month and a half until final fantasy x-2 comes out. --oh, and the appearance of THAT game will insure no one will see me for about a month.

till next time

I don't mean to sound arrogant or contemptuous. I walk the streets of Jakarta, made numb long ago, seeing, but not taking in to account what i see. How lucky we are to have won the gene pool lottery. How lucky we are to be who and where we are, to have the opportunities and life we do. I shudder to think I could have be one of the laborers in the street. Their lot isn't much better than the serfs' of feudal Europe; they will work their entire life, or until they are no longer abole to toil in the sun twelve hours a day, and barely make enough to put food on the table. When too old they will depend on another to feed, clothe and house them or they will beg. Suicide is not an uncommon decision for the elderly, keeping them from being a burden on the generation they have sired. Entire extended families live under the same roof, pooling all money that doesn't go to food, to provide the most basic of shelters. I am personally aquanted with a person who shares a room much smaller than you would think possible with sixteen others. If there are labor laws in this country, they are ignored. Many children work beside their elders when school is too expensive. Beggars, missing various limbs from unsafe and unregulated industrial factories, wonder these dirty streets in rags. I am sorrowed to acknowledge the fact that of the hundreds of millions of dollars our country gives indonesia each year in aid only a percentage of it reaches the masses who need it the most. The rest lines the pockets of various officials down the line of command. Yes, corruption is surely a problem here. To become a police officer you must bribe a chief an amount even i would have trouble amassing and pay a monthly 'due' to your supervisor. Not surprisingly, the police officers line the streets taking bribes of their own (from traffic offenders) to fun their job. But most disturbing of all is when i realize that indonesia is not the worst off of all the countries in the world. Yes, we are lucky.

7:59 pm - GAHH
damn im bored. im always bored. i should do somthing to reduce that boredom. like, be unbored. yeah, thats what i need. i was watching fight club earlier. i should get into bare-knuckled boxing. that couldnt possibly be boring. yeah, now there is an idea. i could even bet on my opponent and make some serious cash! yeah. i could be rich. i knew being a wus would pay off sometime. anybody out there wanna just beat the crap outta each other?

Tribute
--------
Who remembers the Genesis? everybody better! not like it was that long ago. it emerged in 1989 as i remember it, and was extremely popular. well... amoungst my nerdy crowd atleast. the genesis gave birth to SEGA's loveable image; sonic. blue and attitude! oh yeah. but this here isnt a tribute to the well known sonic, its a tribute to a game that maybe went unnoticed by the masses, but a game well worth the countless hours i put into it. well...not as worth it as ffx, or x2 is sure to be, but still not a complete waste. that game was Shining Force II. it was an rpg...sorta...it was a stategy game...sorta. it had the classic plot of a reluctant hero rescuing the princess and banishing the evil in one fell swoop. ah, what can u expect from 16bit cartridges. but it rocked! i have included a link to the hard to find rom here. and here is a link to zophars domain. download 'kega'. it even works for xp, give it a shot.

11:19 pm - so today was fun
i decided i needed a haircut today. in retrospect, i should have decided otherwise, but then this wouldnt be much of a story. so my driver puts me off in front of the building, its tall, red-marbled, somewhat fancy-ten years ago. its a little rundown these days. but i go in anyways. next to the elevator is a tarneshed brass plaque telling me to go to the 3rd floor for the barber. i get in the coffin-like elevator, and my next sign to tell me to get the hell out before its too late is the nausiating smell of dried urine. somthing everyone likes to get a whiff of it the morn, right? they wave right in, and before i know obsequious smiles and gestures herd me into a pleather barber chair in horrible disrepair. he doesnt spray the wet botel at my head. he doesnt stop to ask what i want, not that he speaks english, but im confident i can get the point accorss...nono, he just turns on the buzzer and grabs an obviously not sterile comp out of his pocket. i shudder to think of how many other people's head that has been through before it was last disinfected. so he goes to buzzing. chunks of hair fly in all directions, im on edge. its not long before my barber proves to me that he does in fact know some english, or maybe some phrases are universal... he says "oops" quite softly, but i hear it. i resist turning around in dismay, i could make his'oops' worse. i just wince. its not long before he stops and looks at me and starts chattering. it takes me a while but i eventually gather he is trying to convince me of the wisdom in going for a shorter look. do i have any choice? so i leave this place with something akin to the do the marines wear. im sure they will get a good laugh at me tomorrow. needless to say, i wont be going there again.

7:03 pm - another day, another irrefragable circumlocution
yeah so my weekend was super. ever hear the expression 'as much fun as watching paint dry?' well, i get to live those little wisdoms sometimes. lucky me. yeah so johnny cash and john ritter died the other day. a personal obituary : johnny cash was most recently known for his unmerciful butchering of a Nine Inch Nails song; hurt. john ritter got some putey in the 70s and 80s ( remember 3's company), which is more than i can say for myself, so hell be missed.

on a happy note i have decided to do look into the movie-making industry for a living. i guess the first time i really thought about it was my digital art class in my 10th year of schooling. we had an assignment: to make a movie by assembling clips and to represent something in a 5 min collection of those clips. then at the end say what it was and we could all guess and whatnot... kinda gay sounding i guess. but i enjoyed it! now that i think about it, that whole class was me and joe goofin off and playing bomberman to death. ha! that reminds me. hey joe, you still have ur movie? remember that little end piece i did for it? the title? hahah. but back to the point -- and more recently ben told me of a very lucrative way of gettin in, ya know gettin my name in one of those stars? aparently they would pay me $5000 for just a couple mins of being on the camera. sounds good to me-- so ive decided to become a  S T U N T   C O C K</b>. so best of luck to me.

7:57 pm - frustration in the pm
yeah so last nite both joe and i were quite bored and online with nothing to do. after a grand total of 43 seconds all manner of intelligent conversation ceased to exist (yeah ur right it never got beyond dick and fart jokes, but what else is there???). so after a disapointing dump (for both of us i believe), i came back online and searched google for somthing interesting. i found it alright!!! well, atleast i thought i did. i found out about a flash cartoon called cornholio that features some chic (aparently) doin all sort of funny shit...yep, DOIN literally. the funny shit include : Mr. T (HAHAHA) gary Coleman (HAHAHAHA) the Simpsons (choke gasp) and others. if you know me this is my ultimate idea of humor/porn. yeah so i clicked...and it was a broken link. of course. my life sucks. i spent the next 2 hours scowering the internet for refernces and links. its quite popular. but sadly must have gone under not too long ago... my search was fruitles.... but eventually Vicki came on and my night, ur morning, brightened.

8:41 pm - thoughts...
so lately i have been thinking about gettin rid of my car when i get back to the states, which will be november for those of you i havnt told yet. yippee right? i cant really get rid of my car because its in my moms name for insurance purposes... so that leaves me high and dry... so i started lookin at autotrader.com for some deals on cars, and i found some, but only on cars more ancient than mine...which isnt a comforting thought... i put alot of money in that damn car, im not gonna do that again. and then i remembered my old friend weibo 'jeff' jager, possibly the only other person i have ever met who goes by their middle name and not their first... see what he did when he returned to canada was buy a motorcycle. a real old one if i remember right an 84 honda nighthawk. prob paid about US$ 2000 for it too if i did my research right. well i found a 98 honda shadow 650cc for $2200! which is a helluva deal. its in conyers ga, a suburb of atlanta. i thought, that would be okay, get a ride to go see my sis and buy a cycle, perfect right? wrong. id need insurance duh. and my mom would never help me there if i was to get a motorcycle, her brother was nearly killed in one years back. a drunk hit him with a mac truck. needless to say he has quite a few permanent injuries from that. well, if i know my parents there will be no support of me gettin a bike, even if it means i dont have a vehicle at all. so i was feeling pretty dejected, imagining public transpot in my near future when i searched google for some quotes. progressive's quote was $126 every 12 months. i almost fell out of my chair. my god. transport i can afford! now i just need to be able to get a bike i like, hopefully like the one in conyers, and convince my parents to go along with it... or i could always not tell them...

9:58 pm - a sad subject
we had a friend over for dinner tonight. the GM of the JW Marriott. i felt so bad for him. hes so crushed... i never even thought much about the horror of the situation beyond the deaths. i think it might go deeper than i can even imagine. one of my friends, a driver for the embassy. was telling me a bout some of his taxi driver friends... 3 out of the four that were out front of the marriott died. painfully. i asked my dad if what i knew was not to be discussed, he said no. so the details of the bombing. the suicide bomber was doing in for JI ( i wont even attempt to spell what it stands for ). he came up the circular ramp of the marriott and went around in a couple times, perhaps to steady himself, it must be quite hard to commit to dying... but eventually he pulled up his beatup old kijang ( thats a toyota suv/van) behind a line of silverbird taxis and it blew up.

thats all for now
